Share Your Writing Tips – Online Portfolios

By on February 14th, 2007

As a writer, do you keep an online portfolio? How did you set yours up (a custom site, a template site, a blog, etc.)? Do you think having a portfolio on the Web is absolutely necessary for the majority of writers? What tips would you give to someone who doesn’t have a portfolio online yet, but who’s looking to set one up?

  1. Jeff says:

Absolutely. I work as a advertising copywriter, so I’ve got all my pieces on a personal website I designed myself.

It’s very simple but clean, and it really exists to let other people look at my work and photos. So I tried to make that as easy and logical to do as possible.

I think it is essential for today’s writer to have an online portfolio. It’s much easier than trying to send large docs via email, all you have to do is send them a URL.

If you have a website it’s much easier to promote yourself, and more people will read your work as well.

Here’s a link to my site if you want to check it out. (

Hmm. The link didn’t take. Let’s try this.
