Finding Writers Markets Online

April 13, 2007 – 5:04 pm

When I was still writing for Suite101, I published an article there on how to find writers markets online. I don’t believe I’d mentioned it here before, so I thought I’d throw it out there as some tips on using search engines to find writers markets online. Here are some of the basics:

1. Don’t only search for general phrases such as “writers markets” or “writers guidelines.” Instead, combine them with something more specific (such as a niche).

2. Try searching for particular rates, or even rate types (like “per word,” “per feature,” etc.). When you do this, combine it with one of those more general terms I mentioned (like “writers guidelines”), because otherwise you’ll get a lot of classified ad rates when searching “per word,” “per line,” etc.

Those are the two most basic techniques I look to pull the best results possible of our search engines when looking for writers markets. What strategies do you use?

  2. Here is a great place to sell articles, blog posts, and reviews. There are also requests made for articles and web content. Name you own price and work at your own pace. Also, the editors are very tough so make sure your writing is up to par before submitting. They will ban you from the site if you get to many rejections. Hope this helps.
