Blog Consolidation: So Far So Good
August 24, 2007 – 8:09 pmIt’s been about a week since I combined the Six Figure Writers blog with my freelance writing jobs blog to create All Freelance Writing. One of my main goals of doing that was to leave me fewer blogs to update. Essentially, I want fewer but bigger blogs that I can update daily or near daily instead of the 13 or so blogs I had before that move and selling a few others.
So far it’s working out as planned. I’m able to plan weekly features and get them pre-written to make life easier. I have fewer blogs to update (after also combining my marketing blog with my business blog). I’m simply able to work more productively.
Since it’s working out well so far, I’ll likely continue the process. For now, I’d like my blogs to be limited to this blog, BizAmmo.com, NakedPR.com, and my personal blog. I have an online business blog (ChickTech.net) which I may or may not keep, and a blog on blogging (BlogGig.com) which I may sell or combine with ChickTech if I keep that one. I have a blog on green living that I’m torn on… it’s more of a personal project, but I’m not sure that I want to invest the time right now. We’ll see.
I have a few other blogs planned. You’d think that I’d have learned my lesson, but apparently not. Blogging is my weakness. I love it. I’ll be launching a blog dealing with a book project eventually (not too soon), and I’m still (very slowly) revamping my indie music webzine which will be hosted on Wordpress when all is said and done. That and my business blog will be my main projects, followed by this blog and my PR blog.
So there’s my weakness… blogging. They’re so much fun and so easy to set up that I can’t seem to resist. Sometimes it means I get bogged down, but I think overall it’s worth it even if I give a few up in the process. What’s your weakness when it comes to productivity?
