Doesn’t Lulu also take a percentage per sale? I haven’t compared all the different platforms, but I don’t think they have a competitive pricing. Their print books are great (look, quality), but they don’t come out great in pricing if you think quantity. Not sure if that’s the same case with their ebooks. Also, I agree with Jenn –When you sell through Lulu, you’re given up some of the control. I think e-junkie, clickbank and even payloadz let you stay on top of everything.

I’d considered Lulu in the past, but my issue with them for e-books is that you basically sell through their pages and lose a lot of control. What I’m liking about e-junkie is that I can sell it in any way I want to, have full control over the final sales page, and just use them for payment processing.

Thank you so much for being willing to share your expertise this way! I had hoped to write an e-book this spring, but I knew I needed to learn a lot more first. My experience is in print publishing, and I’m sure there are MANY differences when publishing an e-book. You are making it very easy to learn!

@ Jessica. Any particular reason you decided to sell the e-books through Lulu? I understand for the print editions, but I’m wondering if there is any benefit to selling electronic work there. With my e-books, I always figured I would simply put a link on my website and sell from there.

MY EBOOK IS DONE – I’m adding final touches now and then will be brainstorming marketing ideas and will be re-publishing it with LULU (hope to send off before I return to Jersey Jan 14). I’m proud I got one major project done.

Yeah, organization is essential for me. I need to go where my projects are going to make sure I get there. Outlining the e-book would certainly help (not only me, but I’m thinking it’s essential to those trying their hand at this for the first time).

How about a post on outlining/organizing your e-book before you write it? I tend to get overwhelmed in that aspect and that’s when I abandon projects. As for the other posts, #15 is key for me, as I have no experience with that and really need all the help I can get with marketing and distribution. Looking forward to the challenge!
