I’d mentioned some general stats information after December’s contest, on how it affected my traffic stats.
While going through my server stats today I noticed something interesting:
So far for January, I’m averaging 38% more unique visitors each day, and an average 40% increase in pageviews daily over my December numbers. That’s not counting the new domain broken off at AllFreelanceWritingJobs.com, which actually is doing decently so far, and which would have increased those percentages a little more.
I’m not sure why it is. I haven’t gone out of my way to market the site differently. I did get a few nice natural backlinks though which have driven a little bit of traffic, and people seem to be migrating to the e-book posts quite a bit more than most others. I actually assumed having a stricter monthly focus would hurt traffic, but surprisingly it’s increasing (as have subscribers).
Just thought I’d share, thank the new (and old) visitors for stopping by, and see if anyone’s had any similar trends after doing big post series like this. :)

Well, I can tell you why I started coming here recently. I was on your mailing list for Six Figure Writers. A few weeks ago you sent out an email about how the site changed. I get weekly emails about the blog posts you make, and they looked good, so I added you to my daily RSS feeds.
Beyond that, you have really good content. Some writing blogs are filled with a whole lot of nothing, but you actually say informative stuff. You’re helpful and well spoken.
That must be why everyone likes you. That’s why I like you, anyway.
Well thanks Trisha. It’s always nice to see a new reader I didn’t know about, and know something I’ve said was useful. It makes the posting worthwhile. :)
I’m also a relatively new reader. I saw your site a few months back, but just recently went through all the feeds that I was tracking and got rid of the ones I didn’t want and committed to checking in more often to the ones I liked…and you’re still there :)
Thanks for the info on your stats Jenn. It’s inspiration.
