There are a lot of different types of freelance writers. So what type are you?
I’m a combination of a Web content writer and business writer (specializing mostly in PR writing).
I think it’s a good idea to get a feel for who else is out there and what they do. It’s a vital element of networking. Lately I’ve had a hard time referring other writers for a few projects that I couldn’t take on, so I thought it was a good time to see what some other writers are focusing on in case I find myself needing to refer work out again in the future. Why not, right?

Although I also do business writing, my focus is on working with self-publishing authors. I edit the manuscript, consult on self-publishing, format, negotiate with cover designer and printer, create a Web site, help with publicity – anything self-publishing authors need to write, publish, and market their books.
At the moment, I am almost exclusively a web content writer, although I’m working on a transition to copy writing.
Although, in the end, I would much prefer to just be a regular ol’ novelist.
Like Trisha, I am almost exclusively a web content writer. I specialize in professional blogging, product/website reviews, and SEO-friendly “resource” articles.

For those who are Web content writers, do you specialize in certain niches, or do you write on pretty much any topic?
It was nice to see an update in my email! I write primarily web content, but have not focused on any one specialization… yet. I’m writing for an author at the moment to generate buzz for book being released this fall. I’ve been writing for a news blog consistently, and have various other kinds of projects in the works including short pieces for attorney sites, and a women’s beauty site.
Yeah… I kept forgetting to send out the email update, and when I finally tried, the email service was doing maintenance. *sigh* So I figured I’d better get one out before I permanently forgot. lol
