Hi. My name is Jenn, and I’m a blogaholic.
I started my first blog at the end of 2004 / beginning of 2005, and got serious about blogging in 2006. I’ve had several dozen blogs at various points in time. I’ve whittled that down to eight that I take “seriously” now (meaning I haven’t merged them with something else or sold them – one or two I really don’t update at the moment). They are as follows:
- All Freelance Writing
- Naked PR
- BizHow2
- All Book Marketing
- All Freelance Writing Jobs
- Web Writer’s Guide
- AudioXposure
- Jentrepreneur
… at least I think those are all of my current blogs. I have a tendency to actually forget some of them at times. (And actually only the last in that list is temporarily “dead” – the others have work on the front-end, or I’m working on interviews, an e-book, etc. on the back-end for them.)
I recently had two others. I sold them. I did that, so I could devote more time to other blogs that have better revenue-generating potential (and ones that I simply enjoy more). Frankly, I had too many blogs, and needed to trim.
It’s not the first time I’ve trimmed my blogs. I used to run FadMarketing.com – that got combined with BizHow2. I ran ChickTech.net and BlogGig.com. I combined them to create what’s now Jentrepreneur. I’ve considered merging that with the business blog as well, but honestly I love the domain name too much to let it sit or let it go. I had a blog on indie music. I sold that. I sold several others last year as well.
I digress.
I was doing well for a little while, combining blogs or selling them to get down to a manageable level. Until yesterday at least… I registered two new domains to start new blogs. :(
Somebody save me.
On a positive note, all of the blogs I’ve been focusing on have had rising incomes and rising traffic again, which is good. I don’t think I’ll be at the point of being able to go full-time blogging this year as I’d hoped for a while (too many other things with client projects and books in the works). But I’m thinking it’s a very realistic goal for the end of 2009. I just need to reign myself in sometimes and not overdo it with the quantity. I can manage several successfully, but I haven’t found that “magic number” yet, where it’ll just be too much at once for me.
Any other blog addicts around here? How often do you find yourself setting up new projects / sites / blogs?

LOL. I can relate as I have 8 (I think that is all!) blogs plus 3 that I write for on blog networks. It always makes me feel better to know I’m not the only one with so many blogs out there. I started off with a video game blog and then it snowballed from there as I found that I kept putting posts in it that weren’t game related. So, I registered another domain. Then I started posting off-topic posts, then I created another one. And so forth and so forth.
I’ve let some blogs go but the ones I have now I just can’t part with. Some have great readers that I enjoy their comments and other make income so I don’t want to let those go either! ;)
