E-book for New Freelance Web Writers – Soliciting Feedback

As of this morning I’ve finished drafting my new e-book. I still have to do the proofreading before converting it into its final .pdf form, but I’ve gone ahead and sent it out to one person so far for feedback, and possibly a second soon.

I’d like to get feedback from another 2 – 3 Web-based writers (experienced or not) on the general content and such (should I add something? etc.). So if anyone here is interested, please leave a comment on this post (I’ll send a copy of it – .doc format – to the first three folks to comment here to the email address you use when you post your comment unless you request otherwise).

Just some background:

  • This is set to be the first in a series targeting freelance Web writers.
  • This particular one is targeting absolute beginners – essentially what they should know before jumping into the freelance Web writing game.
  • It’s a little over 80 pages.
  • It’s a very “no fluff” e-book. It doesn’t include images (frankly, I didn’t want anything that added bulk without adding something of value to the reader, and I didn’t see any sections where adding images would amount to much more than that).
  • This covers things ranging from common myths about Web writing and qualities of successful freelancers to choosing your target market and professional networking.
  • It includes a series of templates and worksheets (one page business plan template, one page marketing plan template, email query template, specialty selection chart, goal-setting worksheet, and a professional website planning worksheet). One of the things I’d like feedback on (especially given that I don’t use images in here) is whether you think I should use an example fictional writer, having them “fill out” some of these things, and showing segments of them in image form as a sample within the corresponding content section.
  • It’s not fully proofread yet, so it won’t be converted and sold quite as-is one way or the other.
  • It’s most likely going to be priced at $37, and I’ll be putting together a 30-Day Get Started Guide as a bonus (no crappy bonuses you can already buy, or get for free, somewhere else). If you have an idea for another bonus (maybe a more thorough tutorial on setting up a WP-based professional site?), I’d love to hear them.
  • Whoever helps me out by giving it a lookover and offering suggestions will get a free copy and all bonuses of the finished project (and I don’t expect you to read through the whole thing – just look through the TOC to see if it’s not covering something important, see if the templates and worksheets look alright, etc.).

So if you’re interested in helping me out with the project, please leave a comment – if you’re in the first three, I’ll send it over shortly after.

Edit: Comments on this post are now closed – I have all of the folks I need currently for feedback. 4 people commented pretty quickly – three were sent to moderation and one went through immediately – because of that, I’m just going to send it to all four. Thanks so much. :)
