Don’t Forget Your Autoresponder Over the Holidays

By on December 25th, 2008

Just a quick tip to keep in mind when you’re taking time off over the holidays (or any other time of year):

Setup an autoresponder for your email account!

Why?

Chances are that even when you’re taking time off, some of your clients won’t be (especially true if you work with clients internationally). If they contact you about a project, you’re away, and they don’t get a response, they may feel ignored.

An autoresponder sends an immediate response when someone emails you, letting them know when you’ll be away, when you’ll be returning, and whether or not you’ll be checking in on email while you’re gone.

Always try to keep clients as informed as possible. Setup your autoresponder before leaving town or powering down. Check with your email provider, ISP, or Web host to determine how to add an autoresponder to your own account.
