I haven’t updated on a few things I’ve mentioned here recently, so here’s where a few projects stand:
Flipping Websites
I haven’t finished the content for the quick flip sites–Only about a quarter of it for the first handful of sites. I’ll get to it when I can, but unfortunately the beginning of the year is always insanely swamped with client projects.
I also haven’t done much more with eWritingJobs.com. I’ll probably only add another 2-3 articles to that one, and no more ezinearticles for it. Right now I just need to let it age, and more importantly, I need to find ways to monetize the traffic. It’s earning pretty much nothing, while newer sites are doing well.
I think I’ll be able to flip the free online courses site afterall. I still have to do several posts there to get one per category setup. It’s already monetizing decently for the traffic it has. I want to double or triple what it’s earning now, and then I’ll sell it off.
Web Writer’s Guide E-book Series
The first Web Writer’s Guide e-book has been selling much better, and I have better promotion under way for that. So I’ll be putting more time into the next e-book in the series now. It’s the one on marketing your Web writing services more effectively.
I originally expected that this would be even longer than the original book. However, I’ve decided to make some changes. There will be a LOT of worksheets and templates–so much so that I’ve decided to make this e-book predominantly a workbook. It will include those interactive elements as the base, with content explaining what each is for, and how to use them. Then I’ll create a few smaller products going more into depth on a few marketing concepts, which will be included as bonuses. I’m doing this because the other option was to create something so comprehensive that would have a higher price point than the first. I’d rather have the first be the flagship product, and base the series on smaller projects around it.
The Novel
While not directly related to freelancing, I mentioned here that I was working on drafting a novel (based on an outline I did back in ‘04). I posted about it, because I was looking for tools to track the word count.
So far I haven’t added that status bar anywhere here (I may), but if you’re interested in following that project at all, you can find out more at All Book Writing. While I haven’t written as religously as I should have, it’s still coming along well (about 7% through it now – doesn’t sound like a lot, but it came to about 24-25 manuscript pages, which is nothing to sneeze at either).
So what has everyone else been up to this month? Making progress on those 2009 goals yet?

Wow, Jen! You’re amazingly productive.
I am doing much better with 2009 goals than 2008 goals. I have a much better organizational system in place. However, I find it so hard to work on my own projects when they are not paying money immediately. It is always tempting to finish a client project when the last installment of their payment plan is due or just work on some extra articles for some of the sites I write for occasionally. I need to get into the mindset of doing the work now, even if it doesn’t pay now, so I can reap the rewards later.
Inspired by your domain flipping posts, I bought a number of domains back when .info domains were going for only 99 cents. I haven’t done a darn thing with them yet! Actually, I did keyword research for all of them and made a list of content I need to write for each site. I still need to start blogs for each site and get content up. I am debating about writing some free reports for each site, just to help with traffic generation. The only thing I am confused about is how to price the sites when I am ready to flip them.
I’m attending Book Expo America in May, so I am preparing for that. Otherwise, not much is new.
