Free Online Courses Update

By on March 1st, 2009

You may remember that I started setting up several websites with the intention of flipping them. Sadly, that overall project had to take a backseat to higher-paying client work, e-book marketing, and blogging. One of the first sites I setup though was Free Online Courses.

I posted here that I wasn’t sure if I would actually sell this site. I fell in love with it pretty much from day 1. I can now say I’ve made a final decision on that front.

I’m keeping the site.

I’ve been monitoring the revenue, and not only is it proving to have the potential to be a rather lucrative site, it’s probably going to surpass two of my “Big 3″ sites income-wise over the next few months. Even with very modest traffic and very minimal marketing, it’s off to a great start. And to top it off, I still thoroughly enjoy it!

It just goes to show, there are a lot of decent revenue streams out there. So keep your eyes open. You never know when you’ll stumble across your next big project. :)

I’ll be working to expand the selection of free writing courses there, so if you have any favorites that you’d like to see included, please post the link here. I’m even hoping to launch some free courses of my own (maybe email courses or in e-book / report format?) there in the future. :)

There are so many grammatical errors, misused words, and incidents of improper punctuation in your first paragrahp, it looks more like it was written by me 8-year-old son… no, actually he could probably do better. Please don’t quit your day job. Are you a product of what colleges are now passing off as writing instruction?

    • Actually no, I’ve never claimed to be a “wirter.” And “me 8-year-old son” – I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who doesn’t obsess over grammar in a casual medium.

Your site is coming along nicely Jen! (The courses one) Hopefully, it’ll continue to grow and bring in a nice little side-income. I’m surprised at how quick some people are to throw out judgment (previous comment). :(

    • Thanks. I just hired someone to do a logo for it. Need to make a few adjustments, and then I’ll get that added. Other than that, I’m working on a marketing plan for the site. It’s monetizing quite well already (not shooting for side-income – my sites and e-books are actually expected to be the full-time business as of next year), and the best way to increase that will likely be to focus on increasing the traffic. This is the second niche to pleasantly surprise me. I hope there are more where they came from. :)

@Jule S: my my, don’t you have a chip on your shoulder!
