PushIt Free WordPress Theme

By on July 17th, 2009

PushIt is a free WordPress theme that I purchased and am distributing here for your use. I hope you enjoy it. Please read the information below before downloading, and review the README file to learn how to use the special features of this theme. I’m going to be releasing some edited versions of this later on with different functions to make usage easier, but until I figure out all of the adjustments I want to make, I wanted to release the original.

What’s Included

  • The coded theme
  • The .psd file
  • .psd for the logo and other images (so you can edit them and re-upload them with your own site name and logo)

Terms

Please remember that all free Web templates and WordPress themes from All Freelance Writing are released under the following terms: You’re free to use it on your own sites (and you do not have to include a credit link or anything like that), but you may NOT distribute this template to others in any way. You cannot forward the files to someone via email. You cannot post the files for download on your own site. You cannot link directly to the download file on this site. If someone else wants it, they must visit this page and download it directly from AllFreelanceWriting.com. Also, derivative works made from the template may not be released (in other words, you can’t change the design and then distribute it to others – it’s for use on your own sites only).

Notes

  1. Read the Readme.txt file included in your download for instructions on how to use the sticky post feature, homepage thumbnail images, twitter updates and more.
  2. Remember that I do not offer technical support for the downloads. If you have simple questions, please post them as a comment on this post (do not email me about them), and if I can help I will. This way when I can’t help, maybe another member can. I’ll be creating some posts here for members in the near future showing you how to make minor adjustments, but if you want to know how to do something specific ask in the comments and maybe I’ll turn the response into one of those posts.

To Download

  1. Click the download link below.
  2. Save the file to your hard drive.
  3. Unzip / decompress the file (in Windows, right-click the file name and go to “extract all.”
  4. That will save it to a decompressed folder.

Once you have the folder decompressed, you can open the .psd file in Photoshop or a compatible program (like GIMP). You can upload the theme into your WordPress installation and activate it by clicking the “themes” link under “Appearance” from your WordPress admin. You can edit your theme files by visiting the “editor” link from the same menu.

I am finally installing the “real” WordPress for my professional website/portfolio with accompanying blog and I am using your theme here, at least as I begin. Thanks for making me less afraid to do this. I was always a little afraid to admit that I had no dang clue how to do this. But why should people with the internet be afraid that they don’t know how to do something? lol. Thanks dear.

Hello. Thanks for the free theme. I installed it on my site, but I’m a newbie and now I’m stuck. Can anyone direct me to information on how I can change the header to include my logo and information? Thank you!

    Not a problem Jessie. :)

In the download, it’s setup that you need to add two particular categories for the two sections on the homepage (all detailed in the readme file to walk you through it). In the test I have up, I made changes. In the newer version, you don’t have to add any special categories, and the “sticky” spot will show the latest sticky post if you have one, or just the latest regular post if you don’t use stickies (rather than being forced to). I’m not releasing that version publicly until I have time to make some visual changes too, but if you’d like it, I can email the .zip to you.
