Writing Challenge: Act on an Old Idea

Yesterday I challenged you to find new ways to write down your ideas so they don’t simply become fleeting thoughts. A couple of people responded on Twitter to say that they already write their ideas down — the execution is what they struggle with. So today let’s talk about that. It’s time to dust off one of your old ideas!

The Challenge

Today I want you to dig up one of your old ideas — one you thought was really good at the time, but you couldn’t pursue it then for one reason or another. I want you to dig it out, dust it off, and see if it still interests you. When you find one that does, take a step towards making it happen. Just one step. You don’t have to do everything in a day.

If you wanted to start a blog, go register the domain name. If you wanted to pitch a particular article to someone, write up that pitch (or even just get the editor’s name and contact info in front of you). If you wanted to try a new marketing tactic, go ahead! What’s the worst that can happen? You’ll just end up where you started, and no more than a few bucks in the hole.

So that’s it folks. Today’s task: take action!
