Would it be better to have a large amount of content before tying to get ads and what ads are you getting? Can I make a living income from adsense type ads?

You don't need a large amount of traffic to get ads. Adsense can be used on new sites, as can something like ClickBank affiliate ads. On the site I'm currently using Adsense and Commission Junction. I'll be releasing a small information product on the new site both to garner attention and to earn some more direct revenue soon (probably next week -- it's a part of the marketing bootcamp series we're doing over at QueryFreeFreelancer.com, w/ those information products being our focus starting today). It's very unlikely that you're going to make a living income solely from adsense ads, especially on a new blog. It's possible, but you'll have to be in a niche that pays well for cpc ads and you'll have to have lots of traffic to increase overall click-throughs. I like to consider things like Adsense to be supplemental income -- they shouldn't be a primary focus for most sites. The only reason I'm even using them on this new blog is because I know the niche does very well with Adsense from experience and keywords / ad research. Living incomes are much more likely to come from private ad deals (which will come as you get more traffic, if you want them -- on AFW for example I won't accept them) or from selling your own products instead of promoting someone else's. It's all stuff we'll cover during the process. :)
