Today we’re going to finish creating your report or e-book. You’ll then release the e-book (tomorrow) through your website to try to attract some traffic to it and to use that report as a way to build your own authority status amongst readers (your potential buyers if you targeted the topic well). There’s really no new background today beyond what we covered last week, so let’s get right into your exercises:
Exercises
- Open up your e-book / report document that you already created. You should already have the title page, TOC, disclaimers, and the body of the piece written.
- Write the conclusion of your e-book at the end of the body content you’ve already written.
- Write the introduction to your e-book (insert it before the main body text you started, but after the TOC — you can have it run into the body text, or include a page break between them if you prefer).
- Review the entire report now. Proofread it. Make sure each section transitions well into the next. Make sure the visual layout works (if there are awkward page breaks, adjust them manually — like moving a headline at the bottom of one page to the top of the next). If you’d like to insert images or other design elements, do that now.
- Take at least an hour or so away from the project. Then come back and read it aloud as one final check.
