30 Day Marketing Bootcamp for Freelance Writers – Day 15

By on September 22nd, 2009

You’ve made it half-way through the bootcamp, and you’re at the end of your second big project already! So let’s dive right in again and get right to your exercises. You created a short report or e-book to give away to members of your target market. Now you need to distribute it!

Exercises

  1. Convert your report file to .pdf format. If you don’t have software to do it, check out www.primopdf.com (they have a free online version that leaves links in the body text).
  2. Upload your .pdf file to your server.
  3. Create a page on your website or blog where you’ll offer the download. If you were selling this report (you’re not), this would be your sales page. You should highlight the title, a description or abstract of it, and a pitch on why people should download it and read it. Then you’ll need to add a download link at the end, pointing to the .pdf file you just uploaded.

Tomorrow we’ll talk about getting some attention for your new report.

  1. Matt Willard says:

Well, I put the ebook up, but now I’m really starting to think I need to replace it with something better. I’ll try whatever marketing moves you’ve got in mind for this one, but when I get a chance, I’m replacing this one with something better.

  2. Jennifer Mattern says:

No, no, no. Don’t replace. Supplement. ;) Keep adding to the arsenal rather than feeling like you need to weed out elements (unless those elements prove not to work in the long run).

  3. Matt Willard says:

Okay, I’ll supplement instead of weeding it out. More content is good for me anyway :V
