Bear With Us Folks – WP Quirk

By on October 13th, 2009

Recent posts are being labeled as being written by Clint, one of our new AFW posters. However, they’re posted by moi — Clint and Yo will be starting this coming Monday. It seems to be a glitch with WordPress. It’s defaulting to Clint because he’s first alphabetically. For some reason it also won’t allow me to choose myself as the post author even though I’m posting when signed into my own account.

I’m going to try to get this fixed today, but if you see Clint doing some posting in the meantime promise not to get mad at him for anything he might say. Or wait… this could work to my advantage. Shhhh. ;)

EDIT: Thankfully this was a quick fix. If any of our readers happen to come across this same bug when adding new users to a WordPress blog, here’s the workaround.

Login to your main admin account. Create a new user and give them administrator privileges. Log out. Login as the new admin account. “Demote” your original admin account to contributor or something. Then change the settings back to administrator permissions for that account. Log out again. Login as your main admin account. You should now be able to set yourself as the post author and you should be the default author when you post when logged into your account again. Yay! You can delete the second admin account when you’re finished.
