New Free Tools For Freelance Writers – Coming Soon

By on October 25th, 2009

I told you before to expect even more changes here at All Freelance Writing. We’ll be unrolling another new feature this week — free tools for freelance writers.

While I’m not much of a NaNoWriMo fan personally, I do know that many writers will be embarking on their 50,000 word writing goal next month. In honor of that, the first free tool we’ll be releasing is a simple word count tracker. It’s off with the programmer now, and should be ready for release before the end of the week. I decided to start off with a very simple tracker for now. In the future we may have a more advanced one developed based on feedback and feature requests. Even if you’re not taking part in NaNoWriMo, I hope you’ll be able to put the word count tracker to use (blogging goals, e-book goals, or even tracking a client project).

In the future we’ll be releasing other tools and calculators. For example, I’ll be having the programmer develop an interactive freelance writing rate calculator based on the variables I explored in my 2007 post Setting Freelance Writing Rates the Right Way.

Now tell me. What other kinds of free tools and calculators would you be interested in seeing us release here at All Freelance Writing? Ask and you might just receive. :)

  1. Chris says:

Any tools for gathering references are appreciated.

  2. Can you give me a better idea of what you mean? As far as the programmer goes we’ll be putting together things like calculators and the tracker — not full software solutions at the moment (although I won’t rule it out if these prove to be popular in the long run). Or are you thinking of something more like worksheets you can use to keep things organized? Those I’ll also be releasing but creating myself. Right now I’m trying to get more ideas to toss at the programmer(s) to see what I can hire them to whip up for us.
