Freelance Writing Jobs – November 6, 2009

By on November 6th, 2009

I don’t know about you, but I am so happy it’s Friday! Since I’ve been ignoring Hubby for days I’ve got a romantic Saturday planned for him with breakfast outside of this really cute little cafe and an outdoor antiques show. Awww, don’t we sound pretentious and boring? No worries, the lovely morning will be followed by a nap, pizza and beer.

Below you’ll find your quests for today. The asterisked gig is courtesy of Twitter. Oh don’t forget to read on for your scary motivation.

Friday Morning Motivation: You might not realize this but if time was square and had corners, the Holidays would be right around them. During the Holidays you need extra money for food and gifts for your family. Unfortunately, during this time your clients tend to be busy with their own families so invoices get paid a little slower and gigs sometimes become a little scarcer. Go score some of the above gigs and spend these next three weeks building some extra savings so you can avoid the stress of little work and slow payers during the Holiday season.

  1. Sounds like you have a much more exciting weekend planned than I do. So jealous. I’ll be stuck doing some deep cleaning all weekend (only chance I’ll have for that kind of holiday prep before I decorate after Thanksgiving). But then next week I’ll be up in Connecticut on Saturday, so that should make up for it. :)

As for projects and the holidays, I hear you. The week leading up to Thanksgiving is usually my slowest (other than last year for some reason). But then on Black Friday it’s like BAM! — everyone suddenly needs something done and they need it right now (but I’m off that day, so I ignore the emails and such until Monday). :)

  2. Yo says:

Our favorite antiques shop, Hula Hula will be there so we are too psyched. She specializes in mid-century antiques and Hawaiiana, so we’re sure to come home with some Tiki swag for our swingin’ pad :-)

Black Friday is the most sacred of Holidays for me. I’ve already notified the clients that I Tweet for that there will be NO Black Friday Tweeting. Since this is my first year as a full timer, I am nervous about the slow down–but last year, as a part timer, I was actually WORKING on Thanksgiving doing some rush jobs so…we’ll see…
