Hi Christa,
Thanks for a great post. I was wondering what your experience has been with freelance rates at trade publications. Are they indeed lower than consumer mags or is that untrue? What would you expect a starting rate at a trade publication to be?
Thanks again!

I'm a huge fan of Christa's and this getting started series. You should get an ebook writer on here :D

Christa touched on some things, some "harsh realities" we all have to face that life brings up but also got to the important things. Relationships are absolutely important. Networking, word-of-mouth, referrals--these are evergreen for business. SEO and direct mail tactics and PPC effectiveness may change but these are fundamentals that do and will work for the savvy business owner. The freelancer has the ability to get up close and personal with what really makes them marketable.

Christa's intelligence, tenacity and humanity is well worth a read!
