Considering that I'm on the staff there, am the owner of this site, and have paid quite a lot of money to "foreigners" to have different kinds of work done over the years, I can tell you quite frankly that you are full of shit. At least your self-imposed pseudonym is rather fitting.

I suggest you take the time to read the comment policies regarding insulting comments without using your real name and contact details. If you learned to read and follow instructions, who knows? It might help you land more of those gigs. Just sayin'.

I've seen a couple of gigs in BST for .05 per word. Unfortunately, with the week I was having, I doubt I would have gotten those either ;-P In reality though, nothing beats the private offers you get (in my experience). I just wish I could have helped people actually score a gig...oh well ;)

I wouldn't waste too much time in the BST area there, although once in a while there's a not-too-terrible gig advertised. The key to getting good gigs in the webmaster marketplaces is to make yourself visible to those who don't advertise.

Most with bigger budgets don't publicly advertise that fact on the forum because they know they'll be bombarded with dozens of PMs from unqualified people who see the rate and ignore every requirement in the hopes of landing it. I can't blame them for not wanting to be bothered.

Once you get passed that fact, there's quite a lot of money to be found there. I've landed work with big international corporations because their marketing or SEO firms happen to follow the webmaster communities, and you might be surprised by how many seemingly-small webmaster clients are very well-funded and looking for more than the average Web writer. It's just about standing out and carving your niche in the discussion areas rather than the marketplace.

Very interesting (and entertaining to read) post. :) DP is usually not a great place to try to find writing work. However, I did find a client (from responding to their thread) who was willing to pay what another company pays me. It isn't $50 an article, but it's a good amount more than .01/word. There are a few people there who are actually looking for a good writer and are willing to pay for it (even in BST).
