Always happy to leave my input, whether or not it's always appreciated. ;)

You need a comment subscription option though. It would be easier to keep up with responses and not forget about which posts were commented on. Just a suggestion.

Cherie,

Sorry to have contributed to your list of reading, but hopefully you'll find some well worth it. :)

And I'm glad you appreciated the article. Elevator pitches are one of the most basic marketing tools out there and if you want to be in business for yourself, you should have one -- no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Unfortunately some folks just don't understand them (think they're more like proposals, that they should be different for every client, etc.), so hopefully the article and contest will educate at least a few folks and serve as a reminder for others who do know about them but haven't gotten around to creating one yet.

What a nice surprise to see that you linked to one of my articles! Thank you :)

To throw my two cents in about catching up on reading, I always feel like I'm behind. Just when I think I might have a handle on it, I see a post like this one and pick up a few more to add to my list.

By the way, I am so happy you wrote How to Write an Elevator Pitch For Your Freelancing Business. I get asked to do this all the time for the various projects I have going on. When I was first asked to do this I just sort of stammered, "Uh... I write articles about..." Not good! It's something that writers just don't usually do, and yet it is so valuable in getting clients and (as you said) setting yourself apart.

Oddly, someone just this week asked me what evergreen articles were, so the post kind of jumped out at me. :)

Enjoy your weekend as well Laurie!

Thanks for linking to my blog post about evergreen articles, Jen! It was one of my favorite to write -- it's so important to recognize the difference between evergreen and topical, I think.

And about catching up on reading....I think that's one of the things I learned in kindergarten, that I'll never be able to read all the books I want to. The internet has given me a million times more stuff to read -- alot of it excellent -- and I'm that much farther behind :-)

Enjoy your weekend,
Laurie
