Freelance Writing Jobs – May 11th, 2010

By on May 11th, 2010

So I’m exhausted today because I stayed up last night really late watching clips of Betty White’s debut on SNL. Did anyone else catch it? I have always thought she was a funny woman, but she definitely outdid herself. I think that Facebook should have the right to vote on every guest going forward. What does this have to do with freelance writing jobs? Nothing! But I’m not a robot, people. I have to talk about my life sometimes! I’m not just your resident job-poster-guy-doober.

The Freelance Writing Jobs

  1. Travel writer – AOL Travel is seeking a travel writer with a flair for the social networking side of things. If you’re a prolific writer but an even more prolific user of social sites, this would be an ideal job for you! There’s a long, long list of requirements here. As with any job, do what they want, not what you think they’d like. Best of luck! This freelance writing job pays a minimum of $50 per post with incentives up to $1,000 based on traffic.
  2. Financial advisor writer – do you know much about financial services, especially the advisor side of things? Riabiz.com is looking for a writer to take over a successful feature started on its blog. Check the ad out if you’re interested! This freelance writing job pays from $250 to $400 per story.
  3. Business plan writer – an experienced business writer is needed to help in the creation of a business plan, plus site content creation is also needed. If this sounds right up your alley, try this gig out. This freelance writing job pays $1,000.

Freelance Writing Job Tip of the Week

Any gig that asks you to already have a blog is never really a gig that you want. Any employer that is willing to pay you for your existing traffic without buying out your blog is frequently just that–an employer, not a client. They’re basically having you endorse their product for a small amount of compensation. Frequently, they just send you their product and ask for a review. If you hate it when they do that stuff on The Office, why would you do it yourself?

Worst Freelance Writing Job of the Week

Well, this dovetails nicely into what I was just talking about.

LUUUX.COM have launched an exciting new program for Bloggers with Followers.
LUUUX are paying out 1$ USD for any of your followers who become members at Luuux.
This is how it works…
1. Set up a free account at Luuux.
2. Create Posts or re-posts at Luuux and promote the share link to your followers, for example:-
- share the post links with your Twitter Followers
- share the post links with your Facebook Friends and Fans
- share the post links on your blogs
3. You get your own statistics page of all the inbound traffic and membership conversions
4. You get your own blog page which we promote for you as well with links back to your own blog.
5. All your posts can have a link back or source link to the original story on the web.
5. You even get to earn Luuux $ to spend in our shop on top of your US Dollar earnings !
Luuux is a very diverse site covering breaking trends in Fashion, Gadgets, Design, Beauty and Sports. Luuux can be a great complementary offering to your followers on top of your own blogs, as well as a nice cash earner for you.

This is an awful job. It isn’t even a job. It’s just affiliate marketing. And you know, any blog that borrows its business model from porn is probably going to suck. Hilariously enough, if you were actually to do affiliate marketing in porn, you’d be making a bigger cut than just $1 per person. So basically what I’m saying is you’re better off doing porn marketing than this job.

  2. How is it that you so often seem to end up back at porn? lol

    • Clint says:

Well, to be TOTALLY honest, I actually did a product-for-post when I first started freelancing with adult toy reviews. Not only was that humiliating, but I didn’t get paid a single dime for all that work. Yeah. Oops.

      • Aww, poor Clint. I used to focus on adult subjects myself. I found individually pitching companies works better, and that having your own blog does create visibility enough for both credible and scam gigs to come to you.

Anyhow, thanks for the job postings. I’d say beware to readers on the business plan and content/copywriting gig, though, because $1,000 may not take him that far.

  3. Porn is a huge industry and there are so many elements to it I’m not surprised so many people have worked in the industry at one time or another. I have to keep my nose clean because of the teaching – I must be squeaky clean rep-wise. Fortunately, I can use that as an excuse because anything I’d ever write in that industry would come out sounding like a horrible beach romance novel with swollen members and delicate flowers or some such nonsense. LOL
