I've tried such a keyboard. Of course in the beginning, it was hard, but in a few hours of working I got used to it. And it's so easy to clean it, really.

They used to sell keyboard covers -- clear flexible things. If they still make them and you can find one that would fit, that could work. It would block the space around the keys, so you wouldn't have to worry about claws or food getting under them. Worst case is you replace the cover every now and then if they scratch it up.

I can't discipline my babies, so this is totally my fault. I do have a slim one, and it's still a hot mess from those needle sharp claws (and let's not forget the sesame seeds). I guess I'll just get another and try to learn to discipline the little rats

lol I guess I'm lucky that my cats respect my keyboards.

If you mean those ones that can be rolled up, I've heard they're pretty bad for accuracy. Thought about getting one until I heard that. Then I settled for a slim one (keys remind me more of a laptop than a typical external keyboard, and it's quieter than a typical keyboard). I think it's from Gear Head -- got it at Microcenter.

Okay, so I eat bagels over my keyboard and my cats crawl around on it like crappy trapeze artists on a safety net. Now, keys get stuck (damn sesame seeds) and cats have been pulling off certain letters to watch them fall on the floor and I need a new keyboard.

Has anyone tried those gummy ones that are all one-piece? They seem like they would increase mistakes and be unsatisfying in the clickity-click area. Thoughts?
