Oh, and I can't leave them alone when I have plants or flowers on the desk because they'll eat them.

I originally didn't plan to let my pets in my office in the new place. But they've decided otherwise!

I have a big chair and ottoman in the room for longer manuscript writing sessions. One of my kitties decided that the ottoman is the ultimate cat bed. They occasionally share it, but it's usually her perch for the day, whether I'm in the room working or not.

So much for it being "my" office.

You know, my b/f's cat sometimes does that too (lying down near the modem). And I bet you're right. It's probably the warmth.

My one cat sounds a lot like your pug. She'd just lie down and be content. But the other one looks at my office area as his own personal playground, and screams if I let her in but not him.

I've got two cats and a pug. My "office" is in our kitchen which doesn't have a door, so I can't really keep any of them out. I have one cat who likes to put her butt in my face when she's looking for attention but the other cat is content to sleep on the modem (he loves to sleep on electrical things - probably for the warmth?). I always pull my pug's bed into the kitchen while I'm working and he goes right to sleep. He just wants to be near me. It's very sweet.

I'm allergic to my cats too! I take a Claritin D every day.

How many of you have pets? Do you let them in your home office while you work?

I have two cats currently. And I keep them out of that room. When it was just the one I'd let her in because she would just sleep all day. The younger one, however, gets into anything and everything. And a couple of years ago I developed allergies to cats. So I try to keep their dander out of this one room since I spend so much time here. That said, we have a few play breaks throughout the day.

What about you? Do you have kitties that like to walk across your keyboard? Dogs that keep you company? Some other pet you keep around the office while you work? What challenges have they posed, or how do they make your work day more enjoyable?

Jenn
