No problem. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions. I wouldn't stress too much about content marketing being something different or special. Really it's just about any kind of writing that you either send to people as part of your promotional work or writing that would otherwise attract them to you. Just about anything can fit under that label these days.

I'm not sure what's going on with the smileys. Unfortunately this forum software can be a bit buggy. I'll have to check the settings and see if there's an issue there.

I actually have two posts up on another blog -- Writing For Bloggers -- which explain what content marketing is and give a few examples of types of writing involved. You can find those at the link below:

http://writingforbloggers.com/what-is-content-marketing/

You shouldn't have any problem transferring your existing writing skills to content marketing. Articles, blog posts, and news releases are all examples, so you have a solid background to do those kinds of things already.

Thanks, Jenn! I'm hearing clients and others use the term, "content marketing." What is it and what types of writing are usually involved with content marketing? And is this a transferrable skill that I can do even if I've been in the newspaper/trade magazine industry for the majority of my career? Thanks!

PS-How do I get the smileys to work? I click on them but they never come up on my forum? Hmmm....

Congrats on finding a method that works well for you Wendy.

I wouldn't worry about being too busy. If your services are in demand, it's first come, first served. Clients understand that. I just let them know when I'll be available again based on existing workloads, and I've found that many, if not most, prospects are happy to wait if they really want to work with you.

You might want to set up a calendar for your website where you can note your availability and booked time. This way prospects who do more research on you will immediately realize you're in demand, and they'll see when you might be able to work them in. I don't do this personally, but I know it's worked out well for some colleagues in the past.

I can't think of any specific sites or books on content marketing that I'd recommend. But if you have specific questions, I'm happy to try to answer.

Hi All:

A few weeks ago, I bent your ears about transitioning from solely magazine work into more corporate writing work. I found a way to network that is comfortable for me, and in the last two weeks, I've been meeting local website designers, colloborators, etc. for coffee. Also, I posed a question on LI to my niche industries about needing writers, and I've gotten a great response. HOWEVER, I'm a one-woman show and now, I'm worried that I'll be too busy. This week, I have two more meet n' greets for two different writing gigs. I'm afraid that the floodgates are going to open at one shot and I'll be entirely too busy. I'm still a mom who loves to manage her home and I only want to work part-time. Any advice?

PS-If I wanted to learn more about content marketing writing, can any of you recommend a website, book, or an online course? Thanks!
