OfflineI'm a freelance business writer and a novelist. Up until now, I've run both off the same Facebook and Twitter pages. But, after much reading and gleaning, I've decided to separate them just as if they were two businesses (which, I guess, they are). I plan to launch a new FB page along with my new website and attached blog at the end of this month.
I have one little problem with this: what FB page category is appropriate for a freelance business writer? I'll be running my business under a business name and not my own. Am I a writer (the same category I chose for my fictional activities), a company/organization, or a local business?
I want to pick something that's relevant enough that people will find me. Does anyone have experience with this?
I don't use Facebook due to their continual privacy issues. So hopefully someone else will have more direct advice for you on that. But as for the categories….
I'd say it depends on your market (like most things in freelancing). Local business only applies if you plan to stick to local clients (imo). Writer makes perfect sense if you target a broader market. And I'd only go with company / organization if you don't plan to appeal to people specifically searching for freelancers. I'd search for a writer if I wanted a solo pro. I'd search businesses and organizations if I wanted something more like a firm.

OfflineThanks, Jenn. I wasn't thinking about it that way. Looks like 'writer' is best, then.
