Sallie Frances Arnoult

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, I am one of six children. As a native New Orleanian, and a direct descendant of early Creole settlers, one of the first families of Louisiana, I cherish the rich cultural history of our community. The Creole culture unique to our region has shaped my values and perspective on life.

As a graduate of St. Mary's Dominican High School and Loyola University, community service has played an important role in my life. During my collegiate career, I was a member of Theta Phi Alpha, a social and service fraternity. The focus of my studies at Loyola was Political Science and Public Relations.

Although my career has been predominantly in retail, I served as President of the Crescent River Pilots' Foundation from 2005-2011. During my affiliation with the CRPF, I was involved with numerous 501(c)3 non-profit organizations throughout the five parishes served by the foundation (Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, and St. Tammany). The list includes, but is not limited to, Feed the Children, You Are Sunshine, the St. Bernard Project, the Woodlands Conservancy, Make a Wish Foundation, and the New Heights Riding Therapy Program. In 2015, I facilitated the creation of a scholarship in memory of my brother, Parris Arnoult, and have presented the annual scholarship to a deserving student through Jefferson Dollars for Scholars (where my family originated). In 2018, a Scholarship I created will be given to a deserving student in memory of my father. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for Jefferson Dollars for Scholars. I am also a You Night NOLA 2016 alum, a women's cancer survivorship program founded by Lisa McKenzie and Susan Bopp.

I became a Freelance Writer/Blogger after surviving Ovarian Cancer. Since I had to reinvent myself, being self-employed was the best option for me. Although it is challenging, it allows me to do something I love to do... to write and to entertain while passing on knowledge.
