Profile Summary
I am a trained policy analyst with an ecology background and more than 20 years experience in natural resource conservation. My experience has given me a deep background in issues related to natural resource management, wildlife and habitat monitoring and conservation, and ecosystem services. I possess a well-rounded set of skills in research, program development, interviewing and outreach to landowners and conservation audiences, and writing. My results-oriented perspective has been shaped by five years of field experience as a land manager for The Nature Conservancy.
I have diverse experience as a successful writer. I write for nonprofits, trade associations, corporations, and agencies on the web and in print media, focusing on research and communications that require a synthesis of science and policy or economics. My specialty is putting wonky science policy information into plain language. Finished products - as author and co-author - include white papers, strategic conservation plans, land management plans, government case studies and reports, grant proposals, and educational materials. I also freelance for magazines.
Experience / Education / Qualifications
