3 Steps to Create a Basic Marketing Plan for the New Year

There is no better time than December to create a fresh marketing plan. This will allow you to “hit the ground running” when the new year arrives.

But doesn’t it take a lot of time to create a marketing plan? Although you should spend significant time on this task, it doesn’t have to set you back several days. If you stick with the basics, you can have something solid in place without any delay.

Since your marketing plan will naturally evolve over time, all you need right now are the basics.

Below are three details to focus on:

1. Come up with five ideas for marketing your services. With so many options, this should not be overly difficult.

Tip: stick with strategies that have worked for you in the past, while also implementing a couple that you have been meaning to experiment with.

2. Get organized with a spreadsheet. This is as simple as including one column for tasks and the other for the day of week/date on which it will be completed. Feel free to adjust your spreadsheet as time goes by and you get a better grip on your plan.

3. Decide how much time to devote to each task. For many, this is the most challenging part of implementing a marketing plan. Even though it can be difficult at times, you must find a way to market your services while completing tasks for current clients. To start, allot a particular amount of time for each task. As the days go by, you can make adjustments as necessary.

With these three details, you are in position to create a basic marketing plan for the new year.
