They accept feature stories of 800-1200 words, short features of 500-800 words, and tips articles of 150-600 words.
American Educator
American Educator is a professional journal published by the American Federation of Teachers. It covers "research and ideas from early childhood through higher education," such as essays explaining the significance of a research project and its findings. International affairs and labor issues of interest to AFT members may also be accepted. Articles run 1000-5000 words.
Notre Dame Magazine
The Notre Dame Magazine is a quarterly publication of the University of Notre Dame. It covers alumni activities, institutional events, people, trends, and cultural issues. They accept both features and departments as well as essays in their "CrossCurrents" section. Payment is not detailed in their writer's guidelines but is said to be "comparable to fees paid by some national publications."
Practical Homeschooling Magazine
Practical Homeschooling Magazine accepts practical articles of general interest to homeschooling parents and those considering the option. They pay $50 per article.
PTO Today
PTO Today magazine icovers issues related to parent-teacher organizations such as leadership, fundraising, education, and working with school staff. While freelance assignments aren't common, when they do occur they run 600-1500 words and generally pay $125-500. The publication buys all rights.
Rising Innovator
Rising Innovator is an online publication and resource center for young entrepreneurs and their parents. We serve ages 8 to 18, and offer a wide variety of tools and content that is broadly targeted at the needs of this group. At this time we are open to a wide variety of pitches. Please do not submit writing that has not been pre-approved by our editorial team. Our articles tend to be less than 1000 words long though for the right subject and writer we may consider longer content. Our pay rate is negotiable based on writer experience and the difficulty of researching a subject.
Teachers & Writers Magazine
Teachers & Writers Magazine is published by the Teachers & Writers Collaborative. It covers teaching writing from kindergarten through college, including non-classroom instruction. They accept classroom writing prompts ($75), narrative lesson plans ($100), articles on the art of teaching writing ($150), and interviews ($150).
The Old Schoolhouse Magazine
The Old Schoolhouse is a digital magazine covering topics related to homeschooling. They pay for articles up to 800 words.
