Market your Services with a Free Report

Are you looking for a creative way to market your freelance writing services? Are you trying to stand out in the crowd? If so, you may want to create a free report as a way of increasing exposure and hopefully adding new clients.

The number one benefit of a free report is that most people will take advantage if they know about it. After all, it is free of cost. Even if somebody only picks up one morsel of information, it is better than nothing at all.

Of course, you want to make sure the report is geared towards helping you land new clients. For instance, you could release a report on “writing the perfect white paper” or “how to use sales letters to increase profits.” As people begin to read your report they will realize one of two things:

1. They now have enough knowledge to complete the project on their own. This may not result in a job at the present time, but your name will always be high on their list should the need arise.

2. They are not interested in doing the work in-house, but want to hire you because you have shown your expertise. This is the ideal outcome of a free report.

How long should it be? This is a question that you have to answer on your own. I have produced free reports ranging anywhere from 10 pages to 30 pages or more. It is important that you include enough information to make the report useful, while also doing your best to show how much you know about the subject. While teaching others is important, your goal is to market your services at the same time – never forget this.

If you have never distributed a free report now may be the time to give this marketing method a try.
