The Benefits of an Organized Marketing Plan

Do you have a marketing plan in your head? Do you complete marketing related tasks, day after day, without any real organization? If you answered yes to both of these questions, you are in the same boat as many freelance writers.

It is true that any marketing is better than none at all. However, an organized plan will go a long way in helping you achieve greater success.

By organized, I mean a plan that is written down and complete with all the necessary details.

Here are three benefits associated with having a “hard copy” marketing plan:

1. You can see what needs to be done. When you don’t have your plan on paper (or a spreadsheet or text document), you are always going to be guessing as to what to do next and what you have done in the past. This lack of organization can lead to lost time and plenty of mistakes.

2. Easy to make tweaks based on what is and is not working. Have you found that you are landing the most clients through cold calling while cold emails are yielding no response? If so, you can tweak your marketing plan to reflect this. After all, you want to spend your time on the strategies that have the best chance of success.

3. Keeps you focused. Before I had an organized marketing plan I found it difficult to complete the proper number of related tasks everyday. Instead, I was jumping all over the place and never really knowing if I was on the right track. With an organized and detailed plan, this is never a concern. When it comes time to work on the marketing side of your business, you will have laser focus.

Now what do you think about creating an organized marketing plan? Do you see the benefits as they would relate to your business?
