Writers' Market Search Form

Pressfuls

Digital publisher and magazine of horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery / crime fiction. Minimal dialogue or none at all. 1000-2500 words. Creative fiction of 500-800 words. Novellas, novels, and long-form nonfiction are also considered. 20-25 words of flash fiction pays $.25 / word. 26-250 words of flash fiction pays $.10 / word. 251-2500 words pays $.03 / word. Royalty rates for novellas, novels, and long non-fiction works is 35%.

Pseudopod

Pseudopod is an "audio magazine" in the horror genre. Writers can submit their stories to have them read and recorded by voice actors. They pay $20 for flash fiction reprints and $100 for short story reprints, or $.08 per word for original fiction.

PTO Today

PTO Today magazine is published 6 times per year and covers issues related to parent-teacher organizations such as leadership, fundraising, education, and working with school staff. Features run 1200-2200 words, averaging 1500 words. Features pay $200-700 per assignment. Departments run 600-1200 words and pay $150-400.

Radish Magazine

Radish Magazine covers natural foods, products, and services of western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Topics include diet, health and fitness, cooking, and local farmer's markets. Pay is $25 for the Rooting Around department and $50 - $150 for other articles depending on length and research involved.

RankPay

RankPay accepts contributions through its blogger program. They seek blog posts covering SEO, content marketing, and social media. They accept submissions from native English speakers only and are looking for posts of at least 1000 words each. They pay $50 per published post.

Rattle

Rattle accepts unsolicited poetry submissions year-round. They do not accept previously-published work (but publishing to the author's own blog, message boards, and social media accounts are not disqualifying). They encourage simultaneous submissions. Pay is $200 per poem and a one-year subscription if the poem is published in print, and $100 for online contributors.

Rising Innovator

Rising Innovator is an online publication and resource center for young entrepreneurs and their parents. We serve ages 8 to 18, and offer a wide variety of tools and content that is broadly targeted at the needs of this group. At this time we are open to a wide variety of pitches. Please do not submit writing that has not been pre-approved by our editorial team. Our articles tend to be less than 1000 words long though for the right subject and writer we may consider longer content. Our pay rate is negotiable based on writer experience and the difficulty of researching a subject.

Runner's World

Runner's World magazine accept freelance submissions, with the best chance of acceptance in departments -- What it takes to..., Rave Run, and Life & Times. Writers should send spec pieces for consideration (not queries). Stories cover inspirational stories, first-person essays about running-related experiences, and details about awesome runs (locations, what you see, how long the run is, etc.).

Sasee

Sasee accepts contributions from freelance writers including essays, humor, satire, personal experiences, and features on topics of interest to women. Articles are 500 - 1000 words. This is a paying publication, but payments vary.

Scientific American

Scientific American accepts articles on "recent scientific discoveries, technical innovations and overviews of ongoing research." They prefer submissions from scientists with first-hand knowledge in their field or experienced science journalists. Articles typically run 2500-3000 words.
