Poets & Writers

Poets & Writers Magazine accepts freelance submissions for four sections: News & Trends, The Literary Life, The Practical Writer, and Features. Exact payments aren't detailed in the guidelines, but the magazine pays when a piece is scheduled for production.

Popular Science

Popular Science accepts articles covering "new and emerging technology in the areas of science, automobiles, the environment, recreation, electronics, the home, photography, aviation and space, and computers and software. Freelance pieces range from features to short content accompanying their "What's New" products.

Popular Woodworking

Popular Woodworking Magazine accepts pitches for features that typically run around 2500 words. Pay is generally $1000-3000 per article.

Practical Homeschooling Magazine

Practical Homeschooling Magazine accepts practical articles of general interest to homeschooling parents and those considering the option. They pay $50 per article.

Pressfuls

Digital publisher and magazine of horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery / crime fiction. Minimal dialogue or none at all. 1000-1500 words. Short nonfiction of 1000-1500 words will also be considered. No reprints. No simultaneous submissions. Pay is $.04 per word.

Pseudopod

Pseudopod is an "audio magazine" in the horror genre. Writers can submit their stories to have them read and recorded by voice actors. They pay $20 for flash fiction reprints and $100 for short story reprints, or $.08 per word for original fiction.

PTO Today

PTO Today magazine icovers issues related to parent-teacher organizations such as leadership, fundraising, education, and working with school staff. While freelance assignments aren't common, when they do occur they run 600-1500 words and generally pay $125-500. The publication buys all rights.

Radish Magazine

Radish Magazine covers natural foods, products, and services of western Illinois and eastern Iowa. Topics include diet, health and fitness, cooking, and local farmer's markets. Pay is $25 for the Rooting Around department and $50 - $150 for other articles depending on length and research involved.

RankPay

RankPay accepts contributions through its blogger program. They seek blog posts covering SEO, content marketing, and social media. They accept submissions from native English speakers only and are looking for posts of at least 1000 words each. They pay $50 per published post.

Rattle

Rattle accepts unsolicited poetry submissions year-round. They do not accept previously-published work (but publishing to the author's own blog, message boards, and social media accounts are not disqualifying). They encourage simultaneous submissions. Pay is $200 per poem and a one-year subscription if the poem is published in print, and $100 for online contributors.
