They accept both features and departments as well as essays in their "CrossCurrents" section. Payment is not detailed in their writer's guidelines but is said to be "comparable to fees paid by some national publications."
Old Farmer's Almanac
Old Farmer's Almanac accepts freelance submissions for features on topics such as gardening, home remedies, pets, and weather. Rates vary based on the submission, and the publication buys all rights.
One Story
One Story publishes literary fiction. They pay $500 and 25 contributor copies for stories between 3000 and 8000 words.
Outpost Travel Magazine

PDX.Vote is covering elections that impact Portland, Oregon-area residents (including state-level elections and elections happening in other parts of Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties). I’m especially interested in pitches that cover important issues and how upcoming elections may or may not impact those issues. Some issues I’m looking for articles about are housing access, police violence, and COVID-19 responses. Rates start at $250 and go up for articles requiring substantial research.
